As AfricaFocus readers know, I am a reader, a writer, editor, researcher, and social justice activist. I am definitely no musician.
But I am well aware of the power of music from my personal experience in the civil rights movement with SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) and in Southern Africa with FRELIMO (Mozambique Liberation Front). And I often find watching and listening to music online to be a welcome break from reading or writing.
So AfricaFocus notes will often include posts which are mainly music rather than words. From last month, see World Music is African Music.
This post today has three short music videos in the Playing for Change series “Songs around the World.”
Enjoy!
In another post today, I am sharing two incisive and sobering reports about the deadly impact of U.S. policies towards Africa.
And, beginning a regular feature, at the end of this post you will find links to other recent news and commentary online that I have found useful.
